Meeting Location

The pre-conference seminar will be held at one of the AERA headquarter hotels. All activities during the seminar take place in a conference room with a quiet room nearby for selected participants' use. Participants are advised to review the AERA 2019 Meeting Travel Information page for information and discounts. Note that discounted purchase must be ahead of time.

Travel

Participants are responsible for their travel arrangements and lodging while in Toronto. 

Toronto is served by air, rail, and rail. All participants traveling from or through another country en route to the seminar are required to provide a valid passport issued by their country of citizenship. Citizens of some countries may be required to obtain a visa prior to entry. Participants are advised to review the AERA 2019 Meeting Travel Information for discounts flight and ground transportation discounts.

​Flying into Pearson International

Pearson International Airport is less than 30 minutes from downtown Toronto with hundreds of nonstop and international flights. The airport code is YYZ. AERA has arranged for discounted ground transportation from Pearson International to Union Station using Up Express.

Billy Bishop City Airport is a small metropolitan airport with regional and international destinations. It is only minutes away from the AERA conference location. The airport code is YTZ.

Rail to Union Station

Union Station is across the street from the Fairmont Royal York Hotel and is part of the Toronto PATH Network. The newly renovated station is home to several rail services, in addition to a subway connection. Travelers from the United States may use Amtrak, which connects with Via Rail once in Canada.

Bus to Coach Terminal

Coach Terminal is in downtown Toronto, located at 610 Bay Street, and is part of the Toronto PATH Network. Greyhound and Megabus serve Coach Terminal.

Automobile Travel

Canada recognizes valid drivers' licenses from other countries. However, you may still need a valid passport to enter the country. Note that Canada displays speed limits in kilometers per hour. There are also specific rules regarding the use of HOV lanes and automatic camera billing for use of toll roads. Drivers requiring accessible parking permits should contact the Accessible Parking Services Office immediately upon receiving a letter of acceptance for their seminar application.

Toronto PATH Pedestrian Walkway
The PATH is an accessible system of mostly underground walkways connecting  more than 75 buildings, six subway stations, Union Station, and Coach Terminal. Many AERA sessions and hotels are located in venues connected to the PATH.
